Check Up & Clean

At Lamb Street Medical and Dental, our dentists are committed to preventing dental issues before they arise. We provide a thorough and comprehensive oral examination and we strive to ensure that you are as comfortable as you can be.

Dental Examinations and Cleans
Regular dental examinations are essential in allowing our dentists to closely monitor your dental health, as it is often the case that dental issues can occur before any symptoms or pain arise. Through our detailed dental examination, we can often detect any dental issues early and treat them accordingly.

Prevention is often much better than cure.

What to expect during a routine dental examination
Our dental examinations are a judgement free zone. You can feel free to bring up and discuss any concerns or issues you may have and we will try our best to ensure that you are not only comfortable in discussing these issues, but also strive to manage and address each and every concern to the best of our ability.

After a thorough discussion of your concerns a detailed examination will usually follow.

What we look for in our dental examinations
- Teeth assessment: To identify decay, cracks, broken teeth or fillings and signs of teeth wear or teeth grinding
- Gum screening: Checking for inflammation, deep pockets, gum disease, plaque and tartar build up
- Head and neck screening: Temporomandibular joint (TMD) screening, palpation of muscles of mastication
- Oral cancer screening: Inspection the oral mucosa, tongue, gingiva and throat for oral cancer
- X-Rays/radiographs and photographs: Assessment of radiographs to see in between the teeth and underneath any fillings you may have

Once we have gathered all the information, we will present them to you and explain how to address any issues that you may have, providing you with an up to date treatment plan as well as any recommendations for changes you can make at home to ensure you are maintaining your oral health as best as you can at home.

A professional clean generally follows the dental examination for the majority of patients. Our dentist will thoroughly remove any plaque, tartar and staining from your teeth, helping your teeth feel refreshed and clean. In some patients, a second clean or even a deep clean may be required to get your gums back to their best again.

If it has been more than six months since your last appointment or if you have any concerns about your dental health, please do not hesitate to give us a call on 9008 6363 to book a check up and clean appointment with us.
